Oshrine Tied For Seventh After One Round Of Middleburg Bank Invite

Matt Oshrine is tied for seventh among 140 competitors

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - Freshman Matt Oshrine shot a 1-over 71 through the first round of the Middleburg Bank Intercollegiate to lead the Loyola University Maryland golf team at Kingsmill Resort-River Course Sunday. Oshrine enters the second round in a tie for seventh place out of the 140 competitors.

Senior Brendan Lemp is second on the team and tied for 21st overall at 3-over 73, while freshman Connor Flach is tied for 36th at 4-over 74.

Junior Bart George shot an 8-over 78 on his first trip through the course and sophomore Jimmy Dengler carded an 11-over 81 to sit tied for 116th place.

As a team, the Greyhounds are 10th with a 16-over 296. Eastern Michigan and Texas Tech lead the 27 schools competing with an 8-over 288, while Dayton, William & Mary and UNC-Greensboro are all tied for third at 13-over 293.

Individually, UNCG’s Carter Jenkins had the low round score of 2-under 68 and Appalachian State’s John Michael Cole, Radford’s Ryan Rettberg and IPFW’s Jacob Groninger each carded a 1-under 69.

The Greyhounds will return to the course at 8:30 a.m., Monday for the second round.
