Trio Tied For Seventh To Lead Golf At Fort Lauderdale Intercollegiate
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - Three Loyola University Maryland golfers - Erick Alonso, Preston Ball and Nick Mejia - are tied for seventh after two rounds at the Fort Lauderdale Intercollegiate on Monday, leading the Greyhounds at the event.
Loyola sits in ninth as a team - Alonso, Ball and Mejia are playing as individuals - with a two-round score of 18-over par.
Alonso, Ball and Mejia are even-par through two rounds with matching scores of 144. Ball shot 71 in the opening round, 73 in the second, while Alonso and Mejia carded those scores in opposite rounds.
Bennett Wisner led the Greyhounds team entry at 2-over 146 to tie for 15th, while Brendan Peel is a shot back at 147. Wisner had an opening-round 71 before shooting 75 on the second 18 of the day. Peel shot 73-74 on Monday.
Brandon Berry, another individual, is tied for 53rd at 152 (75-77), and Ethan Wall is a shot back (75-78) to tie for 61st. Brett Inserra and Steven Weingroff rounded out the Greyhounds' contingent in ties for 70th (79-76) and 87th (84-85), respectively.
The tournament concludes on Tuesday with 18 holes at Fort Lauderdale Country Club's North Course.
