GOODYEAR, Ariz. - Senior Brendan Lemp shot a pair of 3-under 69s through the first two round of Loyola’s Snowman Getaway at the Palm Valley Golf Course in Arizona on Monday, but the Loyola University Maryland golf team couldn’t hold on to its second-place finish in the first round and will enter the third and final round in a tied for sixth place.

Lemp and freshman Matt Oshrine both shot a 3-under 69 through the first round, leading the Greyhounds to a team score of 5-under 283. Through the second round, Lemp matched his first-round score and sits tied for sixth place with a 6-under 138. Oshrine is second for Loyola and tied for 21st overall with a 1-under 143, carding a 2-over 74 on his second trip through the course.

Sophomore Jimmy Dengler shaved one stroke off his score through the second round, carding a 73 and 72, respectively. He enters the third round tied for 34th with a 1-over 145.

Fourth for Loyola is freshman Connor Flach, who shot an even 72 in the first round and a 79 in the second round to enter the third round with a 7-over 151, tying him with six others for 72nd place.

Sophomore Keegan Boone and senior Andrew McGill, competing as an individual, round out the Greyhounds at the event. Boone is in a tie for 92nd place with a 156 after shooting a 78 through the two rounds. McGill shot 84 through the first round and improved to an 81 through the second round.


 

 

St. John’s Ryan McCormick, ranked 36th nationally, leads the field with a 12-under 132 through two rounds. Arizona State’s Blake Cannon is second at 10-under 134, while teammate Mathias Schjoelberg and Kyle Westmoreland (Air Force) are tied for third at 9-under 135.

Air Force leads the team race with a 13-under 563, while UMKC is second at 9-under 567 and William & Mary is third with a team score of 4-under 572.

The Greyhounds will return to the course for the third and final round Tuesday morning. Tee time is an 8 a.m., shotgun start. Live results can be found on Golfstat.com.
