Men's Basketball Announces Dates For Patriot League Schedule
BALTIMORE - Loyola University Maryland men's basketball will open Patriot League action on Friday, December 29, when it hosts the U.S. Naval Academy as part of an 18-game conference slate during the 2017-2018 season.
The Greyhounds will have three of four conference contests on the road following the tilt against the Midshipmen, but Loyola ends its regular-season schedule with two of three in Reitz Arena.

Following the league-opening date with Navy, Loyola faces another service academy when it heads to West Point, New York, for a Tuesday, January 2, affair at the U.S. Military Academy. The Greyhounds return to Reitz Arena on Friday, January 5, to face Boston University before travelling to play at College of the Holy Cross and American University on January 8 and 11, respectively.
A two-game homestand starts on Sunday, January 14, when the Greyhounds host Lafayette College with a game on Wednesday, January 17, versus Bucknell University following.
Loyola then faces a pair of conference foes on the road at Colgate University and Lehigh University on January 20 and 24, respectively.
The second half of conference play starts with its next game when Loyola hosts Army on Saturday, January 27, before heading to Boston University for a Wednesday, January 31 contest.
Back-to-back home games against Holy Cross and American follow on February 3 and 7, before the Greyhounds head to Lafayette and Bucknell on February 11 and 14.
Loyola will host its final regular-season games of the year on February 18 and 21, against Colgate and Lehigh, respectively, before ending its Patriot League slate at Navy on February 24.
The top six teams in the Patriot League regular-season standings will receive byes to the quarterfinal round of the Patriot League Championships. All games in the tournament will be played at the contest's higher-seeded team, staring with first-round action on Tuesday, February 27. Quarterfinal games will be on Thursday, March 1, with semifinal contests taking place on Sunday, March 4.
The Patriot League's automatic bid to the 2018 NCAA Championships will be determined on Wednesday, March 7, in the conference title game.
Loyola opens its season with an exhibition game on Thursday, November 2, against Elizabethtown College in Reitz Arena, and the Greyhounds commence the regular-season on Friday, November 10, at Northwestern University. The first regular-season home game will take place on Friday, November 17, against Towson University.
