Loyola Men's Basketball In The Community

Aug. 17, 2012

BALTIMORE - Loyola University Maryland men's basketball head coach Jimmy Patsos recently participated in a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society and had the chance to chat with luminaries such as actor Billy Bob Thornton and future Major League Baseball Hall of Famers Joe Torre and Tony LaRussa.

The fundraiser, who Patsos attended with Mark Butler, Bill Ficke, Michael Pizzo and former Greyhound Hassan Fofana, was highlighted by appearances from Joe Namath, Julius Erving and Sandy Koufax.

"It was quite an experience getting to talk with some of those guys," Patsos said. "Billy Bob's dad was a high school basketball coach, and he has always been a big college basketball fan, and it was interesting being able to talk to a couple of guys who have a lot of rings."
