Harvey To Participate In New York's Empire State Games

July 25, 2007

Baltimore, Md. - Men's basketball sophomore Brett Harvey has been selected to participate for the Hudson Valley team in the Open Division of Men's Basketball at the 2007 Empire State Games. The Olympic-style event offers competition among six different regions of New York State and will be held July 26-29 at various venues in and around Westchester County, including Iona College.

A native of New City, N.Y., Harvey started 30 of 31 games as a freshman for the Greyhounds, averaging 7.4 points and 4.2 assists while playing the second-most minutes on the team (31.0). Twice named MAAC Rookie of the Week, Harvey poured in a career-high 19 points with six assists in the home win over Rider.

Hudson Valley enters the Games as the defending champion, having recorded an 87-76 victory over Western in the 2006 Games in Rochester. Harvey will be playing on this year's team alongside Marist's Ryan Stilphen and Ryan Schneider and Mike Kach of Pennsylvania, a Greyhounds opponent on November 11 at Reitz Arena.

Former Greyhounds center Sean Corrigan, who played at Loyola from 2001-05, participated for the Long Island entrant during the 2003 and 2004 Games.
