Tel Aviv, Israel - Senior guard Brett Harvey and his Team USA teammates will take on host Israel Wednesday at noon ET (7:00 pm in Israel) for the men's open Gold Medal at the 18th annual Maccabiah Games being held in Tel Aviv. Team USA advanced to the final with a 123-76 romp over Canada while Israel disposed of Argentina, 110-53, in Tuesday's semifinal round.

Team USA would not have even had the chance in the semifinals had it not been for a critical 97-89 victory Monday over Argentina in the final game of pool play. In the game, Harvey scored eight points in seven minutes, including two first-quarter three-pointers. Team USA, Argentina and Russia all tied atop the pool at 3-1 and Team USA and Argentina advanced to the medal round by virtue of point differential in games involving the three against each other. Israel completed pool play unbeaten at 4-0 and is perfect in five games played thus far.

Team USA shook off a buzzer-beating 73-71 loss suffered Sunday to Russia for the eight-point victory over Argentina. The loss came after Team USA ripped off victories over Mexico (112-13) and France (135-77) to open pool play. Team USA will now advance to the semifinals on Tuesday to take on either Canada or host Israel.

Harvey is averaging around 10 points while playing around 10 minutes through the four games. The team is being coached by Tennessee Volunteers head coach Bruce Pearl and includes just a handful of current college players to go with a number of overseas professionals.

The United States contingent has been in Israel since early July training and touring in advance of the start of play in the Games on July 14.
