Loyola Men's Basketball In The Community
May 23, 2012
The Loyola University Maryland men's basketball season ended in March, but since then the Greyhounds and their coaching staff have been active in the community.
Last Saturday, players J'hared Hall, Shane Walker and Anthony Winbush and manager Kevin Farrell received their bachelor's degrees from the school and became official members of the ranks of Loyola alumni. Winbush will return to the team in 2012-2013 as a graduate student.
Also last week, Head Coach Jimmy Patsos, Assistant Coach Greg Manning and Director of Basketball Operations Omari Israel were guests of Under Armour Founder and CEO Kevin Plank at Sagamore Farms. Plank hosts, at his farm, an annual Preakness Stakes event that draws luminaries from across the world. This year, the Greyhounds got the chance to chat with Maryland Governor Martin O'Malley (pictured below with Manning), 2011 NFL Rookie of the Year Cam Newton and Baltimore Ravens owner Steve Biscotti.
On Tuesday night, Patsos joined Baltimore Orioles' General Manager Dan Duquette in watching the first-place Orioles defeat their division foe, the Boston Red Sox, 4-1, at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. Earlier in the month, Patsos joined the American Cancer Society's Pittsburgh Chapter as the keynote speaker for their annual Coaches Versus Cancer Fundraiser.
