Loyola Hoops Opponents Advance To Respective Final Fours
April 3, 2014
BALTIMORE - The Loyola University Maryland men’s and women’s basketball teams each played opponents who advanced to their respective Final Fours this year as the Greyhound women played the University of Maryland, and the men met the University of Connecticut.
Connecticut, which hosted Loyola on November 26, will play the University of Florida on Saturday at 6 p.m. That game is a rematch of one that took place less than a week after the Greyhounds played in Hartford.
The Terrapins, who took on the Greyhounds on November 10, will make a return visit to the Final Four for the first time since winning the 2006 National Championship. They will also have a rematch of a regular-season game when they face undefeated University of Notre Dame at 6:30 p.m. Sunday.
Loyola’s women last played a Final Four team in 2006 (Maryland), while the men last played one in 2012 (Kentucky). Both of those teams went on to win the National Championship.
