BALTIMORE - The Loyola University Maryland men's and women's basketball teams start play in their first Patriot League Championships this week with the men kicking off the action Monday, March 3, with a home game against Lafayette College.

The Greyhounds finished tied for seventh in the Patriot League regular-season standings and enter the Championships as the No. 8 seed by virtue of tie-breaking procedures. Loyola (11-18 overall, 6-12 Patriot League) will host Lafayette (10-19, 6-12) in a 7:30 p.m. game on Monday in Reitz Arena. Tickets are on sale through LoyolaGreyhounds.com/tickets.

The winner of the Loyola-Lafayette game will advance to the quarterfinal round to face No. 1 seed Boston University (22-9, 15-3), the Patriot League regular-season champion, on Wednesday, March 5, at 7 p.m. in the Terriers' Agganis Arena.

Loyola's women (5-24, 2-16) will be the No. 10 seed in the Championships and will face seventh-seeded Boston University (12-19, 7-11) on Tuesday, March 4, at 7 p.m. in the Terriers' Case Gymnasium.

Both first round games will air live on the Patriot League Network and will be available in free, streaming HD on PatriotLeague.tv.
