Men's Basketball Plays Marist On MSG This Friday
Jan. 8, 2004
Baltimore, Md. - Playing its fourth game in seven days, the Loyola men's basketball team wraps up a brutal stretch of the schedule with a road contest at Marist. The Greyhounds and Red Foxes meet this Friday night at 8 p.m. in a game that can be seen live on MSG.
Loyola is coming off a tough loss to Rider and is 0-3 in conference play. The Red Foxes are also coming off a conference loss, falling to Iona on Wednesday night in New Rochelle. Marist is 1-2 in the MAAC this season and is home for the first time since December 28.
The Greyhound are led in scoring by sophomore guard Charlie Bell, who averages 15.4 points per game. Bell is coming off a game in which he failed to connect on a three-point field goal, the first time since Loyola's season opener against UMBC. Bell still led the 'Hounds in scoring against Rider with 12 points while Sean Corrigan added 10 off the bench.
Loyola will be looking for its first win against Marist since the 1999 season when the 'Hounds won 81-69. Marist has won the last nine meetings and leads the series 21-12. Friday's game officially kicks off the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference basketball television schedule with the MSG Network.
