JAWAAN WRIGHT returns to action after sitting out last season as redshirt ... retains last season's eligibility and will be donning the Greyhounds uniform for one more season after this one ... his size and athleticism should provide an immediate boost to the Loyola frontline following the graduation of three seniors - Michael Tuck, Omari Isreal and Hassan Fofana ... was a key reserve in 2006-2007 when each of those three players missed games during the season ... worked hard during his year away from playing to build up his strength, a part of his game that was already a plus ... has impeccable timing which led to 15 blocked shots in just 242 minutes played in his last season of action ... adding consistency on offense to that defensive presence will make him productive during his next two seasons ... changed his uniform number from "24" to "21" prior to last season.

2007-2008
Opted to sit out the season as a non-participating redshirt as the Greyhounds' roster boasted three seniors in front of him ... retained that year of eligibility and will have two seasons remaining to play at Loyola.

2006-2007
Appeared in the first 27 contests and then just two of the last four, all off the bench ... twice scored six points in a contest during the campaign ... first time was at American (Nov. 20), making both of his field-goal attempts and a pair of free throws to go with three rebounds in 13 minutes ... equaled that scoring effort in 19 minutes in win at Iona (Jan. 27) ... grabbed five rebounds in 12 minutes at Michigan State (Dec. 30) ... collected five boards in just nine minutes against Manhattan (Jan. 24) ... scored eight points with eight rebounds while playing 25 minutes over two-game stretch at Marist (Feb. 3) and at Fairfield (Feb. 5) ... followed that with three blocks and two rebounds in just eight minutes in home win over Canisius (Feb. 9) ... scored four points with four rebounds in 15 minutes at Canisius (Feb. 25).

2005-2006
Opened his collegiate career with a bang, scoring 10 points and grabbing seven rebounds in 19 minutes in the season-opening win at Towson (Nov. 19) ... followed that with seven points and eight rebounds in 21 minutes in a home win against Maryland-Baltimore County (Nov. 27) ... made three field goals in each of those two games but tallied just five more the remainder of the season ... finished with appearances in 23 games, including a start against Iona (Feb. 8) ... played 17 minutes in that game, grabbing five rebounds but failing to score ... earned that lone start on the strength of a six-point, four-rebound effort in 15 minutes at Manhattan (Feb. 5) in the game prior.

Before Loyola
Played both basketball and football at Cathedral HS in Agawam, Mass. ... captained the basketball team during his senior season ... averaged 18.5 points and 13.5 rebounds per game that year ... also averaged 3.5 blocks per game during his senior season ... led team to 13-9 overall record and an appearance in the semifinals of the state playoffs ... named all-Western Massachusetts ... played one year of basketball at Northfield Mount Hermon Prep, shooting 53 percent from the field with 14 steals and nine blocked shots.

Personal
The son of Stanley and Cheryl Wright... born in Springfield, Mass. ... has an older sister, Shawna Murray, and a younger brother, Rashad ... both his father and uncle played basketball at the University of Rhode Island ... his grandfather played in the ABA ... majoring in Sociology at Loyola.
