SHANE WALKER becomes eligible this season after sitting out last season to establish his residency following his transfer from the University of Maryland ... he is the third former Terrapins player to transfer and end up at Loyola under Coach Patsos - Andre Collins (2004) and Hassan Fofana (2005) ... he has three seasons of eligibility beginning with this one ... immediately gives the Greyhounds an inside presence that was lacking last season in addition to leadership ... a long, athletic forward who can run the floor and block shots ... also can hit jump shots from inside of 15 feet with regularity ... uses his size and athleticism to be a force on the boards ... gives the Greyhounds another Washington, D.C., area product after he played his high school ball at Montrose Christian following his migration from England.

2008-2009
Sat out the season establishing his residency following his transfer from the University of Maryland ... worked out with the team every day and showed his leadership abilities during practices and on the bench at home games.

2007-2008 (at Maryland)
Appeared in 24 games for the Terrapins ... after playing in five of six, he missed six straight and then finished logging minutes in 19 of the last 22 ... most of those in which he played were ACC conference play ... did not score until his fifth appearance, knocking down his only shot in a home win over Lehigh (Nov. 23) ... his six-game absence followed, but then he played 10 minutes with three rebounds in a home contest with Delaware (Dec. 28) ... received a career-best 13 minutes of playing time at Charlotte (Jan. 5), grabbing two rebounds with a blocked shot ... his first ACC appearance was at Virginia Tech (Jan. 12) and he made his only field-goal attempt and both of his free-throw tries for a career-high four points ... two games later, he played five minutes and scored three points at North Carolina (Jan. 19) ... played two minutes and was successful on his only field goal try at Duke (Feb. 13) ... scored his last point of the season on a free throw in a home appearance against Florida State (Feb. 16) during which he played eight minutes and corralled three rebounds ... played 10 minutes with three rebounds against Virginia Tech (Feb. 20) in his next outing and logged 11 minutes with two assists at Miami (Fla.) (Feb. 23) in the game that followed ... averaged one rebound per game while playing just 5.3 minutes per contest.

Before College
Played one season at Montrose Christian after spending two seasons at Bishop Ireton HS ... averaged 8.1 points, 12.2 rebounds and 3.1 blocked shots during his one season at Montrose Christian, helping the Mustangs to a 21-3 record and No. 2 ranking in the Washington Post ... received an invitation to play in the prestigious Capital Classic (2007) following that senior year ... averaged 14.5 points, 11.0 rebounds and 4.0 blocked shots as a junior at Bishop Ireton after posting 11.8 points, 9.1 rebounds and 2.5 blocked shots as a sophomore ... was named the program's top defender and top rebounder following each of those seasons ... invited to the 2006 Reebok ABCD Camp and the NBA Players' Association Top 100 Camp during the summer prior to his senior season.
