PAOLO IVIS saw his first action in a Greyhounds uniform last season after sitting out all of 2008-2009 ... appeared in 16 games as he continues to learn the system ... reminds Loyola followers of another native Croatian who flourished in Coach Patsos' system - Josko Alujevic '07 - and he switched to that player's uniform number prior to last season ... has a nice touch around the basket and can slip outside to make a shot from the perimeter ... quality work ethic has him in contention for a backup forward spot as he enters this season.
Played in 16 games without a start after sitting out all of his freshman season ... collected his first career points and rebound with an offensive put-back at Mount St. Mary's (Nov. 21) ... played a career-high 14 minutes in the game at Niagara (Dec. 06), grabbing five rebounds and scoring three points ... made his only shot from the field in the home game with Siena (Jan. 04) ... also collected a rebound in that contest ... would not score a point or grab a board for the remainder of the season, although he recorded the first blocked shots of his career with a pair of rejections against Niagara (Jan. 31).
Sat out the season as a non-participating redshirt ... dressed and traveled for many of the games in November, but did not play and the decision was made to redshirt him for the season ... practiced with the team every day and participated on the scout team.
Played one season of varsity basketball at Sagemont Upper HS in Weston, Fla. ... helped that team to a 21-9 final record and a spot in the Class 2A State Championship game where they suffered a one-point loss ... named all-tournament after making seven of his nine shots from the floor en route to a 14-point, nine-rebound effort in that final game ... averaged 14.0 points for the season and was selected as an all-Broward County honorable mention selection ... was named to the high school honor roll during that senior year.
