MARQUIS SULLIVAN backed up his sophomore season when he was named to the All-MAAC Third Team by the league's coaches by having that same group recognize him as the Sixth Man of the Year following his play last year as a junior ... enters this season as a Preseason All-MAAC Third Team selection ... became Loyola's all-time leader in three-point field goals made during a February game at Canisius and enters his final season just 24 points shy of 1,000 for his career ... the NCAA's new three-point line won't necessitate much change to his style of play as he has proven to be in-range when he is in-bounds at times during games ... will be required to take on a significant leadership role as a senior, although it is projected that he will continue to be a weapon off the Greyhounds' bench ... starting or coming off the bench didn't do anything to his scoring average, tallying 12.0 points per game in his eight starts and 12.3 points per effort off the bench ... made a three-pointer in 32 of his 33 appearances ... the first Baltimore-area recruit to join the Greyhounds under Coach Patsos.
Adjusted well to his role as the scorer off the Greyhounds' bench ... opened the campaign with 16 points as a starter in the loss at Towson (Nov. 9), but then followed with four straight double-figure scoring efforts as a reserve ... the highlight of that stretch was when he made nine of his 11 attempts from the floor, including seven of his eight three-points tries, for 27 points in 26 minutes played in a home win over Vermont (Nov. 18) ... was reinserted into the starting lineup for a six-game stretch in December and January, averaging 11.7 points in those games ... moved back to the bench to make room in the starting lineup for point guard Brian Rudolph and began his assault on opposing defenses ... after only tallying seven in the win at Fairfield (Jan. 11), he would fail to reach more than 10 points just two more times the rest of the season, finishing with double figures in 15 of the final 17 contests ... his efforts included three 20-plus outings, including back-to-back games where he made six-of-eight from three-point range in each for 28 and 20 points, respectively ... made eight of his 12 shots from the floor, five of those from three-point range, en route to 23 points at Manhattan (Jan. 26) ... made three-pointers on four consecutive trips down the floor in the first half at Canisius (Feb. 3) to give Loyola a lead it would not relinquish, the final one of those being the three-pointer that made him the Greyhounds' all-time leader, breaking the record previously held by Jason Rowe (186) ... he finished the game with 15 points ... torched the Golden Griffins for a career-high 28 points in the home finale (Feb. 28), making six three-pointers ... equaled that many from long range in the regular-season finale at Marist (Mar. 2) as he scored 20 ... topped 400 points for the second straight season with 402 ... his three-point field-goal percentage of 43.7 ranked 23rd in the NCAA while his 2.8 three-point field goals per game were 53rd nationally and tops in the MAAC ... the field-goal percentage was fifth in the conference while his 12.2 scoring average ranked 15th.
After scoring 16 points coming off the bench in the season opener against Navy (Nov. 10), he was inserted in the starting lineup for the win over North Florida (Nov. 11) and remained there for the final 30 games of the season ... erupted for 21 points in the win at UMBC (Nov. 14) ... bettered that a couple of games later with 22 points in the home win over Mount St. Mary's (Dec. 2) ... his 14 points in the win at Manhattan (Dec. 10) began a stretch of scoring in double figures in 17 of his next 20 contests ... made six-of-seven from the field, including four of his five three-point attempts, for his 18 points in the home win over Niagara (Jan. 12) ... that effort sent him on a four-game stretch where he converted 21 of his 34 field-goal attempts (.618), averaging 15.0 points ... scored 20 points with six three-pointers in the home win over Siena (Jan. 29) ... recorded 24 points on eight-of-12 shooting from the floor in the home win over Rider (Feb. 14) ... played 39 minutes in that contest and connected on all six of his three-point attempts, the latter establishing a school record for percentage in a game ... finished second in the MAAC in three-point field-goal percentage (.429) and three-point field goals made (2.84 per game) ... those numbers ranked 29th and 46th, respectively, among the final national leaders.
The only freshman to appear in all 28 games, he ended the season with starts in the final six games of the campaign ... earned those starting nods on the strength of an 18-point effort against Iona (Feb. 8) in which he made seven of 11 shots from the field in 25 minutes ... after scoring just three points in his first three collegiate games, he responded with 14 markers in his first conference game, an overtime win at Fairfield (Dec. 9) ... the fifth win to open the season for the Greyhounds, he made five of nine shots from the field, including his first three-pointer ... he finished making four of his eight long-range shots in the game ... earned his first three career starts by posting double-digits over a three-game span in January, averaging 12 points while making 54.2 percent of his shots from the field (13-24) ... final three games of the campaign were perhaps his finest as he averaged 12.3 points ... scored 15 points with four rebounds in 31 minutes in a win at Rider (Feb. 24) and followed that with 13 points in the home season-finale win over Canisius (Feb. 26) ... played 34 minutes in the MAAC Tournament loss to the Golden Griffins (Mar. 3) while scoring nine points on three three-pointers and adding four assists.
