ISAAC REID enters his second year with the Greyhounds with big expectations following the graduation of Loyola's front line from a season ago ... possesses the ability to score both inside and outside, having worked hard on his perimeter game since last season ... a strong player who will be a force on both rebounding ends ... runs the floor extremely well ... should challenge for a starting nod at one of the forward's positions.
Appeared in 17 games, receiving one start ... did not miss a shot from the floor or the free-throw line until the season's fourth game, making his three field-goal tries and both of his attempts from the charity stripe ... after scoring two points from the free-throw line at Towson (Nov. 9) in the season opener, he made both his field-goal attempts and grabbed three rebounds againstPennsylvania in his home debut (Nov. 11) ... played just two minutes against American (Nov. 14), but drained a key three-pointer in his only try from the field ... made three of four foul shots at Seton Hall (Nov. 20) ... followed that with fine back-to-back performances in Philadelphia's Palestra ... played 16 minutes with four points and three rebounds in the win over Howard (Nov. 23) and the next day he tallied a career-high five points with four boards in 12 minutes against Drexel (Nov. 24) ... made one of his two field-goal attempts, corralled three rebounds and handed out two assists at Iona (Dec. 7) in his first MAAC appearance ... played 19 minutes at Dayton (Dec. 22), scoring four points with a career-best seven rebounds ... that performance earned him a start at Illinois (Dec. 28) in Loyola's next outing and he also played 19 minutes with four boards ... played a career-high 21 minutes with four points, six rebounds, an assist, a block and a steal in the home game with Fairfield (Jan 4) ... failed to score again during the season, playing just 23 minutes ... recorded an equal number of points (39) to rebounds (39) for the season while missing just two of his free-throw attempts (12-14).
Joined the Greyhounds after a highly decorated career at Angleton HS ... averaged 24.6 points and 13.2 rebounds per outing as a senior and was selected first-team all-state and the Texas 4A Player of the Year ... as a junior, he scored 10.4 points and grabbed 12.9 rebounds for a 35-4 team that finished second in the state after losing in the Texas state semifinals to the nation's No. 11 team ... named the District 24-4A Defensive Player of the Year and the Brazoria County Player of the Year after that season ... teams his sophomore and junior seasons posted a 62-10 record ... played at Angleton for Tom Penders Jr., the son of the current University of Houston coach ... selected to play for the United States team at the prestigious 2007 Charm City Classic in Baltimore.
