GARRETT KELLY joined the program as a walk-on prior to the 2007-2008 season and has earned a scholarship for his final season at Loyola ... earned that scholarship on the strength of his effort and work in practice and being one of the most popular teammates ... attended North Carolina-Wilmington in 2006-2007, but was not a member of the basketball team ... grew five inches since leaving high school ... a good nose-on-nose defender who can also step out and hit the three-pointer ... not shy about mixing it up on the inside for rebounds on both ends of the court ... often plays any of four positions on the scout team to prepare for upcoming opponents.

2008-2009
Season ended with a bang as he collected his first career field goal and only points of the campaign in the season finale at the MAAC Championship (Mar. 06) ... had played in nine games to that point without attempting a shot or running down a rebound ... grabbed an offensive board in that final game as well ... played a season-high four minutes twice - at Niagara (Jan. 05) and against Iona (Feb. 13) ... the Gaels were the only team against whom he appeared in both regular-season matchups ... handed out an assist in that home meeting ... missed the first semester while working toward the necessary credits toward his degree, a fairly common situation that transfer students run up against ... finished the year playing in 10 games.

2007-2008
Saw action in 14 games in his first season, all of the bench ... failed to connect on any of his three field-goal tries, but made both of his attempts from the free-throw line at Iona (Dec. 7) for his only points on the season ... did not attempt a shot until the home matchup with Siena (Jan. 24), his 10th appearance of the season ... it was his only attempt at Reitz Arena as his other shots came at New Jersey Institute (Jan. 29) and Marist (Mar. 2) ... also grabbed two rebounds in that contest against the Red Foxes ... his other rebounds were collected against Manhattan (Dec. 9) and in back-to-back appearances at Kansas (Jan. 8) and Rider (Jan. 13) ... the Jaspers were the only MAAC opponent against whom he saw playing time in both games ... his only assists of the year came at Kansas and New Jersey Institute while his high for minutes played came at Rider ... did not record a block or a steal on the season.

Before Loyola
Averaged 18 points and five assists as a high school senior at T.C. Roberson ... played for Rich Sizemore there ... his teams won the conference championship during both of his varsity seasons.

Personal
Garrett Richard Kelly is the son of Bobby and Gretchen Kelly ... father played point guard for Jim Lynam at Fairfield University ... brother, Conor, attends East Carolina University and sister, Devon, attends Florida State University ... majoring in Communication with a concentration in Advertising/Public Relations at Loyola.
