JAMAL BARNEY exploded onto the scene in his first season in a Greyhounds uniform ... in addition to leading the MAAC in scoring, he was named to the All-MAAC Second Team by the conference's coaches ... started slow and then erupted in January with two 40-point games and a 25.5 points-per-game average for the 10 games played during that month ... offers an explosive first step and can get to the rim quickly ... a scorer who can shoot the basketball ... the 40-point outings are only the fourth and fifth in Loyola basketball history and he is the only Greyhounds player to possess two of them ... also owns school records for free throws made (18) and attempted (22) in his 40-point performance against New Jersey Institute ... uses his length and jumping ability to disrupt offenses, resulting in easy baskets ... was named to the Preseason All-MAAC Second Team in voting by the coaches ... another player who turned to the Greyhounds when making the decision to return to his Baltimore-area roots.


2008-2009
Made his mark early by leading the MAAC in scoring (18.1 ppg) and being named All-MAAC Second Team in his first season with the Greyhounds ... in addition to being the team leader in scoring, he collected the most steals (44) for the year, ranked second in rebounding (5.5 rpg) and finished third on the team in assists (40) and blocks (14) ... did not start the first four games of the season or the last two, but started all 26 in between ... scored 23 points in 24 minutes with seven rebounds in his first career start to lead Loyola to a win over James Madison (Nov. 24) ... recorded his first career double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds against Siena (Dec. 03) in his first MAAC appearance ... scored 20 or more in three straight in December as Greyhounds won two of three ... opened the New Year by making 15 of 19 from the floor and eight of nine free throws for a career-high 41 points in the win at Canisius (Jan. 03) ... it was just the fourth 40-point game in Loyola history and first since February 1957 ... less than two weeks later he established school records for free throws made (18) and attempted (22) en route to 40 points with eight rebounds against New Jersey Institute (Jan. 14), becoming just the second player in Greyhounds history with two 40-point outings ... followed that two nights later with 21 points on a career-topping four three-pointers and eight boards in a win at Manhattan (Jan. 16) ... closed the month with 26- and 28-point efforts in road wins at Marist (Jan. 25) and Rider (Jan. 30), respectively ... against the Red Foxes, he made all 10 of his free throws and scored the game-winning layup with 6.4 seconds remaining while adding eight rebounds ... he recorded another double-double during a home game with Canisius (Feb. 16), scoring 30 points while grabbing a career-best 11 rebounds ... four times he made 10 or more trips to the free-throw line and he averaged 31.0 points in those four games ... his 561 points scored tied for the 14th-best single season total in Greyhounds history and his 207 made field goals also ranked 14th all-time.


2007-2008
Sat out the entire season while establishing his residency following his transfer from Providence College ... practiced every day with team so he could learn the system and be ready to step right in when he became eligible.

2006-2007 (at Providence)
Appeared in 13 games for the Friars, averaging 2.4 points and 1.5 rebounds ... scored six points with three rebounds, two assists and two steals against Fairleigh Dickinson (Nov. 14) in first college game ... grabbed six rebounds with four assists in 23 minutes in home win over George Washington (Nov. 26) ... scored 13 points in just 16 minutes against Longwood (Jan. 2).

Before Loyola
Averaged 28 points and six assists as a high school senior after scoring 26 points with six assists as a junior ... scored 58 points against Williamsport (Pa.) HS ... Southwestern captured the regional championship, but lost in the city championship during his senior season ... team was 64-8 during his three varsity seasons.
