Rita played a key role on the Loyola lacrosse and volleyball teams from 1982-1986. She excelled on the lacrosse field holding several school records at the time of her induction. The Baltimore native ranked fourth in career goals with 149. She held all of the school's assist records including game (7), season (37), and career (39). She set the Loyola standard for most points in a season with 85 during her senior year. An all-American in 1985 and 1986, she was selected to the United States women's lacrosse team three times during her collegiate career. Loyola's most valuable player in 1986, she was chosen to play in the North-South all star game following her senior season.
