A three-sport athlete, DiPino made his primary mark in baseball. An outstanding catcher, DiPino was a member of the 1955 U. S. All-Star team that played in the annual Hearst Classic at New York's Polo Grounds. He made quite an impact at Loyola, leading the Greyhounds to a 50-19 record from 1956-59. DiPino earned All-Mason-Dixon Conference recognition three times. In his senior season of 1959, DePino captained the Greyhounds to the MD Conference Northern Division title. He batted .316 and was one of five Greyhounds to earn All-Conference recognition. A superb all-around athlete, DiPino was the starting goalie for three years on the Greyhound soccer team. He also played freshman basketball during the 1955-56 season.
