- INSIDE ATHLETICS
- FOR THE STUDENTS
One of the most dedicated to Loyola College and its athletic endeavors, George Franz was a member of both the baseball and soccer teams at Loyola, earning varsity letters in both sports. An excellent catcher on the baseball team, Franz captained coach Lefty Reitz's Greyhounds in both his junior and senior seasons. He batted .319 his junior season, and averaged .302 his last three years. Also a fullback on the soccer team, Franz was named All-Maryland his junior year. He was a diligent supporter of the Greyhound athletic program since his graduation in 1952, serving on numerous athletic-related committees, including the Loyola Soccer Invitational organizing committee.
