Over the 40+ years spanning the lifetime of the "Dean" of the Baltimore sports media, one constant has remained as concerns Vince Bagli: it has always been a pleasure.
A Baltimore native, Loyola graduate, and local media legend, Bagli was a fixture in homes across Maryland for over 40 years - on TV, on radio, and in print. Whether you watched him at 6 and 11 on WBAL-TV 11; listened to him on Baltimore Colts' broadcasts with fellow broadcasting legend Chuck Thompson; read his stories on the sports pages of The News American; or, simply ran into him getting a sandwich at the now defunct Chalet Charles on North Charles Street, he was always the same affable, unpretentious, unassuming Vince.
Bagli has served as national chairman of Loyola's Evergreen Fund, and has been awarded both the Alumni Laureate award, in 1971 - chosen by the Loyola College Alumni Association for superior devotion to his profession and the community - and the Carroll Medal, in 1986 -- which recognizes his decades of service to his alma mater and acknowledges the correlation between his selfless actions and how they embody the ideals of Jesuit education.
