CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Loyola University Maryland cross country runner Kiera Harrison was named to the Patriot League’s All-Academic team, as announced by the league office Monday afternoon.

Harrison has found success on and off the course, earning a spot on the seven-person roster. The veteran distance runner shares a spot on the league’s all-academic team with American’s Julia Sullivan, Army’s Madison Hill, Boston University’s Shelby Stableford, Lehigh’s Jen Markham and Rosie Roessel, and Navy’s Annie-Norah Beveridge. Markham earned top honors, being named the Patriot League Women’s Cross Country Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

A graduate student pursuing a master’s in international business, Harrison took second in this year’s Patriot League Championships. The Syosset, N.Y., native recorded a time of 21:47.63.

Harrison was a two-time Patriot League runner this year. She garnered honors after finishing the Paul Short Invitational ahead of all other Patriot League female contestants. She finished 21st among 406 participants in the Lehigh Valley.

Harrison earned her second weekly league honor after winning the Leopard Invitational in Easton, Pa. She finished the 6k course in 21:44.87 to become the second Greyhound to win a meet in as many years. Jackie D'Antonio, a 2013 alumna, won the Tribe Open last season in Williamsburg, Va.

In addition, Harrison broke the 6k-program record at the Salty Dog Invitational, covering the course in 20:51.75.

The Greyhounds travel to Bethlehem, Pa., on Friday, Nov. 15, for the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional.
