Heibell Named MAAC Cross Country Runner Of The Week

The award is the second of the Loyola senior's career

EDISON, N.J. - Loyola senior cross country runner Chris Heibell was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference's Men's Runner of the Week, the conference office announced today.

Heibell helped lead the Greyhounds to a sixth-place finish against a strong field at the 2008 Navy Invitational on Saturday in Annapolis, Md.

He covered the 8,000-meter course in a time of 25:25.90 to finish 11th in the race. He was just a half-second behind the 10th-place finisher and two seconds out of eighth place.

The award is the first of the season for a Loyola runner and the second of Heibell's career. He also earned the honor after finishing 18th at last season's Navy Invitational.
