NEW ORLEANS -

The Loyola University Maryland women's cross country team earned a preseason No. 14 ranking in the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Mid-Atlantic Regional Poll, the organization announced Monday.

The Greyhounds finished third at the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championship last year, and followed that with the program's first-ever top-10 finish at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional.

The team returns senior Jackie D'Antonio and Kiera Harrison, who played integral roles in Loyola's success in 2011. The Greyhounds also will be looking for major contributions from sophomores Jessica Peters, Mary DeGregorio and Anna Bosse.

The men's and women's cross country teams open-up the season on Saturday at the Seagull Open in Salisbury, Md.
