Cross Country & Track Welcomes 13 To Class Of 2020

BALTIMORE - Thirteen future Greyhounds will form the Loyola University Maryland women’s track and cross country and men’s cross country Class of 2020, head coach Amy Horst announced today.

Kayleigh Caggiano (Manhasset, N.Y./Manhasset H.S.), Megan Crilly (Olney, Md./Our Lady of Good Counsel School), Grace Jansson (Haworth, N.J./Academy of the Holy Angels), Molly Johnson (Medford, N.J./Shawnee H.S.), Rachel Koller (Blue Bell, Pa./Gwynedd Mercy Academy), Heather Merrifield (Hughesville, Pa./Hughesville H.S.), Bre Mucius (Bellport, N.Y./Bellport H.S./The Lawrenceville School), Audrey O’Neill (Cumberland, R.I./La Salle Academy), Ariana Santo Pietro (Metuchen, N.J./Metuchen H.S.), Jordan VIne (Princeton, N.J./Princeton H.S.) and Kelly Williamson (Limerick, Pa./Pope John Paul II H.S.) will join the women’s programs, while Noah Kinser (Trafford, Pa./Serra Catholic) and Sam Williams (West Windsor, N.J./ West Windsor Plainsboro H.S. South) will run for the men’s cross country team this fall.

Kayleigh Caggiano – Manhasset, New York/Manhasset High School

Before Loyola: Earned nine varsity letters at Manhasset (New York) High School, four in indoor track, three in cross country and two during outdoor track season… Was the team captain of all three sports as a senior in 2015-2016 and the indoor and outdoor track programs as a junior… Won the division 3,000m title in outdoor track as a senior in 2016 and was the runner-up in the 1,500m… Also earned All-Eastern State honors in the 800m… Won the Nassau County title in the 1,000m during her senior indoor season while also winning the conference title at that distance and finishing second in the 1,500m… Qualified for the state and federation meet in cross country as a senior and was voted her team’s Most Valuable Performer… Also won the Nassau County and conference cross country crowns… Won the conference outdoor 1,500m title in 2014 and was runner-up that season in the 3,000m. Also claimed the indoor 1,000m and 1,500m titles in 2014… Holds school records in the indoor 800m, 1,500m and 1,000m and is a member of the school-record holding distance medley relay and 4x800m relay teams… Helped Manhasset win the 2016 indoor track and field conference and 2015 cross country division and Nassau County titles.

Personal: Daughter of Maureen and Tommy Caggiano… Has a younger brother, Aiden… Was a high honor roll student at Manhasset… member of the Junior Coalition of Manhasset’s Women’s Coalition Against Breast Cancer.

Megan Crilly – Olney, Maryland/Our Lady of Good Counsel School

Before Loyola: Earned eight varsity – four each in cross country and indoor/outdoor track and field – at Our Lady of Good Counsel School in Olney, Maryland… Was named the Most Valuable Performer of the 2016 indoor and outdoor track and field teams and the 2014 cross country squad… Won the 2016 Washington Catholic Athletic Conference (WCAC) title in the 1,600m and 3,200m as a senior in 2016 and was on the 2015 and 2016 4x800m… Captured the 2013 WCAC Cross Country championship and the 2015 Montgomery County Private School Cross Country crown… Helped Good Counsel win the 2015 Montgomery County Private School Cross Country Championship as a senior in 2015.

Personal: Daughter of Kim and Brian Crilly… Has an older brother, Collin, who runs cross country and track and field at Saint Joseph’s University… Received the Brother Remigius Athletic Award upon graduation, an honor given to the Good Counsel graduating senior who best exhibits the qualities of leadership, sportsmanship and integrity… Member of the honor roll and principal’s list at Good Counsel and participated in the ski club, Saint Mary’s Scholars and National Honor Society.

Grace Jansson – Haworth, New Jersey/Academy of the Holy Angels

Before Loyola: Earned 12 varsity letters – four each in indoor and outdoor track and field and two apiece in soccer and cross country ¬– at Academy of the Holy Angels in Demarest, New Jersey… Won the Bergen County Division E title in the 3,200m as a senior and qualified for the State Meet of Champions… Also was an All-League First Team performer in the 1,600m… Earned Most Valuable Runner honors during indoor track season in 2015 and 2016 and was an All-County honorable mention performer in 2015… Earned numerous indoor All-League and All-County honors in relays and was an All-League First Team runner in the 3,200m in 2015… Received All-League First Team recognition in cross country in 2014 and 2015… Helped her indoor track and field team win the Bergen County Division E title in 2016 and the cross country team to the County’s Division B 2014 crown… The outdoor track and field team was a three-time United League Champion from 2013-2015.

Personal: Daughter of Betsy and Steve Jansson… Has an older brother, Christian, and an older sister, Hanna… Four-year member of the honor roll at Holy Angels… Was a member of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy Summer AIM Program in July 2015… Earned the Dwight D. Eisenhower Leadership Award from the West Point Parents Club of New York and New Jersey in 2015… Was a second soprano in the chorus… Participated in Operation Smile, Gaelic Society, the Go Green Club, Angels Over Africa, as an Angel Ambassador and was on the Austria/Germany Study Abroad Summer Trip in 2014.

Molly Johnson – Medford, New Jersey/Shawnee High School

Before Loyola: Earned six letters – three each in indoor and outdoor track and field – at Shawnee High School in Medofrd Township, New Jersey… Was a member of the school-record-setting 4x200m and 4x400m relay teams… Earned All-Conference Second Team in 2014.

Personal: Daughter of John Johnson… Has an older sister, Annie, who is on the track and field team at James Madison University, and two younger brothers, John and Michael… Member of the honor roll and National Honor Society.

Noah Kinser – Level Green, Pennsylvania/Serra Catholic

Before Loyola: Earned eight letters – four in baseball and two each in cross country and basketball – at Serra Catholic High School in McKeesport, Pennsylvania… Began running cross country in 2014 when Serra Catholic started a program… Was a two-time Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League (WPIAL) Cross Country qualifier and was a two-time cross country team captain… Helped the Eagles finish as the 2016 section runners-up in cross country, as well… Was a two-time WPIAL Athlete of the Week… Captained his baseball team as a senior in 2016, helping the program reach the Pennsylvania state semifinals after winning the WPIAL title… Set the school single-season stolen base record in 2016 and also finished with the program’s career record… Helped Serra Catholic win the 2013 and 2014 section titles in baseball, as well.

Personal: Noah Christopher Kinser… Son of Amy and Art Kinser… Has two brothers, Nate and Alex… Member of the Serra Catholic Honor Roll, Science National Honor Society and Future Business Leaders of America.

Rachel Koller – Blue Bell, Pennsylvania/Gwynedd Mercy Academy

Before Loyola: Earned seven varsity letters – four in soccer and three in track and field – at Gwynedd Mercy Academy in Gwynedd Valley, Pennsylvania… Was named the Most Valuable Performer of her team as a senior in 2016… Was an Athletic Association of Catholic Academies (AACA) All-Star in the 100m, 200m, 4x100m and 4x400m as a sophomore, junior and senior… Helped the Gwynedd Mercy 4x400m relay team finish fourth in the state championships in 2014, fifth in 2015 and 12th in 2016… Was a part of district championship qualifying 4x100m and 4x400m relay teams as a sophomore, junior and senior… Also competed at the Penn Relays in the 4x100m and 4x400m relays as a sophomore… Set the school record in the 200m… Helped the team win league titles as a sophomore, junior and senior.

Personal: Daughter of Jeanette and Mike Koller… Father was a high jumper at Temple University… Has an older brother, Michael, who is a high jumper at Yale University… Also has two younger siblings, Matthew and Julia… Was a member of the National Honor Society… Traveled to Guatemala for a service trip.

Heather Merrifield – Hughesville, Pennsylvania/Hughesville High School

Before Loyola: Earned seven varsity letters – four in track and field and three in cross country – at Hughesville (Pennsylvania) High School… Four-year qualifier for the state championships in the 100m and 300m hurdles… Also helped her 4x400m relay team qualify for the state championships three times… Finished fourth in the state in the 300m hurdles and seventh in the 100m hurdles in 2016… Was sixth in the 300m hurdles and eighth in the 4x400m relay in the 2015 state meet… Helped Hughesville win the Pennsylvania Heartland Athletic Conference track and field title in 2015 and 2016… Named Hughesville’s Outstanding Female Athlete in 2016.

Personal: Daughter of Pat and John Merrifield… Has two older sisters, Cassidy and Hannah, and a younger brother, John… Was Hughesville’s National Honor Society president and placed first in the state of Pennsylvania in the Future Business Leaders of America conference in the business plan competition and qualified for the national competition… Was a member of the Students Against Destructive Decisions Club, the Ski Club, Varsity Club and took Advanced Placement courses in Spanish, chemistry, English, history, calculus and physics.

Bre Mucius – Bellport, New York/Bellport High School/The Lawrenceville School

Before Loyola: Graduated from Bellport (New Jersey) High School in 2015 and did a postgraduate year at The Lawrenceville (New Jersey) School… Helped Lawrenceville win the state and Mid-Atlantic Prep League titles in both indoor and outdoor track and field in 2016… Won league titles in the outdoor 100m hurdles and indoor 55m hurdles at Bellport from 2013-2015 and Lawrenceville in 2016… Won the state title in the 100m hurdles outdoors and 55m hurdles indoors, as well as as the outdoor triple jump for Lawrenceville in 2016.

Personal: Daughter of Nepheline and Abel Mucius… Has a younger brother, Kaleb, and younger sister, Nyla… Member of the honor roll and National Honor Society at Bellport and the Dean’s List at Lawrenceville… Participated in Future Teachers of America and was secretary of Athletes Helping Others.

Audrey O’Neill – Cumberland, Rhode Island/La Salle Academy

Before Loyola: Won 12 letters – four each in cross country, indoor track and field and outdoor track and field – at La Salle Academy in Providence, Rhode Island… Helped the Rams win the Rhode Island State Cross Country titles in 2013, 2014 and 2015 and the New England Cross Country Championships in 2014 and 2015… The 2014 and 2015 teams also qualified for the Nike Cross Country National Championships… Member of La Salle’s state champion indoor track and field teams all four years of high school… Was a member of the 4xMile National Championship relay in 2015 and the 4x800m state titlists in 2016… Earned All-State Second Team in cross country in 2013, 2014 and 2015 and was an All-American in the 4xMile relay at the New Balance Indoor National Championships in 2015.

Personal: Daughter of Roberta and John O’Neill… Has a twin brother, Oliver, and younger brother, Luke… Member of the National Honor Society, the Rhode Island Honor Society and the Italian Honor Society.

Ariana Santo Pietro – Metuchen, New Jersey/Metuchen High School

Before Loyola: Won 10 letters – eight in track and field and two in soccer – at Metuchen (New Jersey) High School)… Helped the Bulldogs win four-straight New Jersey Group I Section titles from 2012-2016 and Central Jersey Group I titles from 2012-2015… Was an indoor and outdoor track Greater Middlesex Conference (GMC) All-Blue Division honoree all eight seasons she competed at Metuchen… Also earned All-GMC honors in 2015 outdoors… Won the Central Jersey Sectional title in the 55m and 100m as a senior in 2016… Participated in four indoor New Jersey Meet of Champions and two outdoor (2015 and 2016).

Personal: Daughter of Sara Santo Pietro and Haneef Shaheed… Has a younger brother, Tai, and a younger sister, Amaya… Was a member of the National Honor Society and the Spanish National Honor Society at Metuchen.

Jordan VIne – Princeton, New Jersey/Princeton High School

Before Loyola: Earned eight varsity letters – four each in indoor and outdoor track and field – at Princeton (New Jersey) High School… Won the Group 3 Indoor Sectional Championship in the 400m in both 2015 and 2016… Helped lead Princeton’s 4x400m relay team to a second-place finish in the NJSIAA Group 4 State Championship meet during the 2016 outdoor season... The relay set a school record at the meet, as well… Member of the school’s 800m spring medley relay and 1,600m spring medley relay teams.

Personal: Daughter of Kimberly and John Vine… Has a younger sister, Sydney and younger brother, Lukas.

Sam Williams – West Windsor, New Jersey/West Windsor Plainsboro High School South

Before Loyola: Earned 12 letters ¬– four each in cross country and outdoor and indoor track and field – at West Windsor Plainsboro High School South… Helped the track and field team win the 2014 state title and three conference titles… Was an all-conference honoree and set the school freshman record in the 3,200 meters.

Personal: Son of Carmen and Steve Williams… Has three younger siblings, Jake, Isabel and Olivia.

Kelly Williamson – Limerick, Pennsylvania/Pope John Paul II High School

Before Loyola: Earned eight varsity letters – four each in cross country and track and field – at Pope John Paul II High School in Royersford, Pennsylvania… Finished 10th in the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association District 1 cross country meet as a senior and qualified for the PIAA state championships… Earned all-Pioneer Conference honorable mention in cross country in 2012 and 2013 and All-Academic recognition from the Pioneer in 2014 and 2015.

Personal: Daughter of Amy and Keith Williamson… Has an older brother, Sean, and a younger brother, Brian… Member of the Community Service and Respect Life Clubs and was a Student Ambassador… Participated in dance at Jane Baron’s Academy of Dance… Achieved first or second honors throughout high school.
