Women's Track & Field, Cross Country Adds 16 To Program

BALTIMORE - The Loyola University Maryland women's track and field and cross country teams have announced that 16 student-athletes will join the program in the fall as the Class of 2015. Nine are distance runners who will compete for both teams, and seven will see action in other disciplines for the track and field squad.
Kellyanne Bondulich (Tappan, N.Y./Tappan Zee), Anna Bosse (Rockville, Md./Walter Johnson), Mary DeGregorio (Basking Ridge, N.J./Ridge), Alyssa Dorney (Derr Park, N.Y./St John The Baptist), Margarget George (Kenmore, N.Y./Nichols School), Kelly Maguire (Whiteplains, N.Y./White Plains), Jessica Peters (Elkton, Md./Bohemia Manor), Lisa Potter (Toms River, N.J./Toms Rive North) and Lauren Puleo (Wayland, Mass./Wayland) will run during the cross country and track and field seasons.
Charlotte Criqui (Ridgewood, N.J./Ridgewood), Kelly Hilbert (West Chester, Pa./Academy of Notre Dame de Namur), Amy Macchiaverna (Bernardsville, N.J./Bernards), Ellis McGovern (Ho-Ho-Kus, N.J./Northern Highlands Regional), Alessandra Piscitelli (Kennett Square, Pa./Kennett), Jenna Smith (Havertown, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) and Meghan Walsh (Farmingville, N.Y./Sachem East) will compete in track and field.
Following are brief biographies of several of the student-athletes:
Kellyanne Bondulich earned All-League honors in cross country on four occasions at Tappan Zee High School and was named to the All-County Third Team all four years, as well. She earned a total of 16 varsity letters between cross country and indoor and outdoor track and field and was a member of the National Honor Society. She helped her school's 4x800m, 4x400m, distance medley and spring medley relay teams set school records.
Anna Bosse won the Maryland State Class 4A indoor and outdoor 3,200m title as a senior at Walter Johnson High School and was the state cross country titlist in 2008, as well. A three-time All-Met honoree in cross country by The Washington Post, Bosse is a Maryland Distinguised Scholar and National Honor Society member who was named to the Moco (Montgomery County) Running All-Decade First Team for cross country. She earned Gatorade Maryland Cross Country Female Runner of the Year honors as a sophomore and was a three-time all-state performer.
Mary DeGregorio helped Ridge High School win the 2010 North II Group IV Section Cross Country Championship in 2010. She earned All-Skyland Conference Second Team honors in 2009 and was a member of the National Honor Society.
Margaret George was a four-sport letterwinner at the Nichols School. She was the captain of the cross country team, earning three letters in the sport. She also received two letters in hockey and one each in lacrosse and crew.
Kelly Hilbert helped the Academy of Notre Dame de Namur track and field team win the Independent Schools State Outdoor Championship in 2009 and 2010 and finish second in the Pennsylvania State Indoor Championships those same years. The Fighting Irish took second in the Delaware County Championship in 2010 and won the 2009 and 2011 Inter-Academic League titles. A hurdler and jumper, Hilbert was a captain of the indoor and outdoor squads as a senior and also participated in the soccer program at Notre Dame de Namur.
Kelly Maguire was a four-time All-League honoree in cross country at White Plains High School, helping the Tigers win the 2008 Class AA County title. She won the 1,500m title league title during the 2011 indoor track and field season and helped her 4x800m relay team capture the league crown during the 2010 outdoor track and field session. A National Honor Society member, Maguire was a captain of all three teams as a senior.
Ellis McGovern set the Northern Highlands Regional High School record in the 100m high hurdles and owns the second-fastest time in Bergen County. She was a two-time All-League performer and placed third at the 2010 state sectional meet. McGovern also helped the Highlanders' soccer team reach the State Sectional Championship Game in both 2009 and 2010, helping them win the title as a junior.
Jessica Peters won the Maryland State Class 1A outdoor 3,200m title as a senior and helped the Bohemia Manor High School cross country team win three Maryland 1A championships. She was the Cecil Whig Cecil County Cross Country Runner of the Year in 2010 and earned All-County honors on three occasions in cross country and twice in outdoor track and field. Peters earned Maryland Distinguished Scholar honors, was a member of the National Honor Society and finished fourth in her graduating class.
Alessandra Piscitelli will compete in the throwing events for Loyola and was a Pennsylvania State Meet qualifier as a junior. A four-year letterwinner in both track and field and basketball at Kennett High School, Piscitelli was the captain of both teams as a senior.
Lisa Potter was named the Most Valuable Runner on the Toms River High School North track and field team as a freshman, sophomore and junior, and she competed at the 2010 Nike Indoor Nationals. Potter ran the second-best indoor 800m time in Ocean County in 2011 and helped the Mariners win the 2010 New Jersey Class A South Cross Country Championship and the 2010 New Jersey Class A South Indoor Track & Field Championship.
Lauren Puleo was a three-time Dual County League All-Star at Wayland High School. She earned nine total varsity letters - four in outdoor track and field, three in indoor track and field and two in cross country. Puleo was a member of the National Honor Society, as well, at Wayland.
Jenna Smith helped Cardinal O'Hara win the Philadelphia Catholic League outdoor track and field championships from 2008-2011 and the indoor titles from 2008-2010. Smith won the 2011 Catholic League title in the indoor and outdoor high jump and was an All-Catholic League First Team honoree. She ranked in the top six in the high and triple jumps in both Delaware County and District XII during 2011 and was a member of the National Honor Society.
Meg Walsh won the league title in the triple jump at Sachem High School East and is a holds the Flaming Arrows' school record in the event. Walsh was also a member of school-record setting relay teams in the 4x400m, 4x800m and Distance Medley. She was selected to the Division I and League I All-Star Teams and was an All-Division Second Team honoree twice in cross country. A National Honor Society member, she was a four-time Winter and Spring Scholar-Athlete in New York.
