NEW YORK, NY - Freshman Andrea Rovegno led Loyola to its first ever Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Cross Country Championship, placing third overall and leading four Greyhounds into the Top-15 at Van Cortlandt Park on Friday afternoon.

Rovegno completed the legendary New York course in 22:56.10, ahead of teammate Jackie Truncellito, who placed fourth overall with a time of 22.59.90. Crossing the line in eighth place was Grace Wetzel, who ran a 23.13.10.

The Greyhounds also had Adrianne Blauvelt (13th), Gretchen Schuller (16th) and Jackie Gaines (19th) place in the Top-20 overall, giving Loyola 46 total points and Coach Chris Bayless his first conference title.

On the men's side, Iona junior Nigel Wray finished in first place with a time of 24:47.1. James daSilva was the Greyhounds' top finisher, placing 16th with a time of 26:53.7. Perry Salonia (42nd) and Pat Rice (49th) also placed in the top half of the field. Loyola's men finished with 142 points and placed fifth overall.

Bayless, in his second season as Head Coach of Loyola's women's squad, was named the MAAC Women's Cross Country Coach of the Year.
