Salisbury, Md. - Loyola's men's and women's cross country teams both placed sixth at the Tidewater Invitational on Saturday at Salisbury University as the top three Greyhound women and top four Greyhound men all set personal bests.
Karina Christiansen led the charge for the women's team with a 6,000-meter personal best time of 24:25 to take 24th place. Sarah Herships finished second for Loyola and 32nd overall with a time of 24:53. Bethany Gentry ran her best 6K race ever, recording a time of 26:48 to grab 51st place. Allison Reilly (27:10) and Lauren Pietruszki (28:40) rounded out the scoring for Loyola with placements of 53rd and 65th, respectively.
On the men's side, Perry Salonia ran an 8,000-meter time of 27:46 to lead the Greyhounds with a 41st place finish. John Mulligan placed next for Loyola in 47th with a time of 28:01. Gian Cascia took 57th with a time of 28:50, Sean Cahill placed 66th with a time of 29:25, and Billy Mulligan grabbed 68th in 29:31.
"This was a really great perfomrance for both teams," said Loyola Assistant Coach Julie Culley. "So many people set PR's and we got a few people back from injuries that toughed it out and did very well."
