- INSIDE ATHLETICS
- FOR THE STUDENTS
After leading the Bryn Mawr School cross country and track teams for six years, Paul Vece returned to his alma mater as an assistant cross country coach in 2009. Since taking the helm of the Mawrtians program in 2004, Vece's athletes have set, and reset, 19 school records. Bryn Mawr also had three All-City Runners of the Year selections, one All-Metro Runner of the Year and 19 All-City selections. All three of his programs also had consecutive top-three finishes in the IAAM conferences. Vece's programs also have garnered two top 20 national rankings (Distance Medley Relay and Mile) and one top 50 national ranking (3200m run). Two of his athletes also garnered all-american status at the college level as Christy Johnson (Princeton) and Laura Paulsen (Johns Hopkins) both earned the recognition three times. A 2003 graduate and four-year lettermen at Loyola, Vece served as team captain as a senior when the Greyhounds also won the 2003 Green Terror Invitational. Vece graduated from Archbishop Curley High School in Baltimore, where he earned ten varsity letters, was a three-time team captain and was a member of the 6400m Relay that set the school record at the 1999 Blue Ridge Relays.
