Aug 27, 2013
LOS ANGELES - Former Loyola University Maryland women's tennis player Suzanne Lee won an Emmy Award for her work as an associate producer on NBC's coverage of the 2012 Olympics from London, England.
Lee, who played tennis at Loyola in 2006-2007 and later worked in the athletic department, and her colleagues were presented with the award for "Outstanding Live Event Turnaround" from the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences during the 34th-Annual Sports Emmys.
Last summer, during the XXX Olympiad, Lee worked from NBC Sports' headquarters at 30 Rockefeller Center in New York. From the control room, she coordinated all taped elements of the network's coverage. Lee took all taped features, interviews, graphics and highlights and produced them into the broadcast.
This work commenced at 2 a.m. Eastern time each day since the first show started at 4 a.m. in the United States, 9 a.m. in London.
Since graduating from Loyola in 2010, Lee has worked in the television industry, primarily in Southern California.
Lee has been on the production team of NBC's The Voice and currently serves as the show's social media coordinator. In that role, she integrates real-time fan reaction from Twitter and Facebook that appears on the screen during the broadcast.
She recently began work with the newly launched Fox Sports 1 network. Lee produces highlight packages, and writes the voice-over scripts, of professional and collegiate sporting events for Fox Sports Live, the network's highlight-driven show.
The Syracuse, N.Y., native has also been the social media coordinator and cover designer for the book Fifteen Feet For Free, writen by her father, Jim Lee, a former basketball standout at Syracuse University.
