Under Armour Named Official Outfitter Of Loyola Athletics
Feb. 9, 2012
BALTIMORE - Loyola University Maryland and Under Armour, Inc. (NYSE:UA) announced today that the Baltimore-based leader in performance apparel, footwear and accessories will become the official outfitter of the Greyhounds beginning with the 2012-2013 seasons.
The multi-year agreement gives Under Armour the right to provide on-field and training gear to each of the school's 17 varsity sports. Additionally, Under Armour will outfit all members of the athletic department, including coaches and staff.
"Under Armour is a world-class brand, and we are thrilled to partner with them," said Loyola Assistant Vice President/Director of Athletics Jim Paquette. "Their products give our student-athletes a competitive advantage, and this partnership helps strengthen the Loyola athletics brand with consistent, high-performance gear from head-to-toe.
"Several of our teams have worked with Under Armour in the past, but this strengthens our relationship with the company as Loyola's first all-sports agreement where all of our student-athletes will represent Loyola under one brand. Under Armour takes pride not only in being a leader in the industry, but also in the Baltimore and Maryland areas. We believe that is an important part, too, of this agreement, as we work closely with many businesses in our backyard."
The University's new department-wide outfitter agreement includes marketing entitlements that will complement the brand's marketing campaigns through print and on-field presence at Loyola.
Under Armour® products are sold worldwide and worn by athletes at all levels, from youth to professional, on playing fields around the globe.
Here is what Loyola coaches are saying about the partnership with Under Armour:
Jen Adams, Loyola Women's Lacrosse Coach:
"Our relationship with Under Armour stretches far beyond the performance-based apparel and footwear that our athletes wear. It's about belonging to a brand that is as passionate and innovative about lacrosse as we are here at Loyola. Under Armour has set new standards in the college athletic apparel industry and continues to create inspired products that are always of the highest quality. Sharing a hometown of Baltimore, we could not be more proud to wear their logo here at Loyola University Maryland."
Brian Loeffler, Loyola Men's & Women's Swimming & Diving Coach:
"I am excited for all of our teams to partner with Under Armour in the coming years. Under Armour's passion for excellence is something that we share, and this relationship has great potential to spotlight two Baltimore assets - Under Armour and Loyola University Maryland."
Joe Logan, Loyola Women's Basketball Coach:
"As a school and as a program, we want to be able to support the local businesses of Baltimore. Partnering with an outstanding local company like Under Armour is a great opportunity both for Loyola women's basketball and the athletic department as a whole."
Rick McClure, Loyola Men's & Women's Tennis Coach:
"It is very important for every sport at Loyola to be represented in a similar clothing style, and that is what Under Armour will do with outstanding design and performance ideas. Our teams are excited and looking forward to wearing Under Armour's gear in the coming years. The brand's proximity will make it convenient to make orders and get a quick response. Our future look will be appealing, and the gear will be comfortable for our athletes to wear."
Jimmy Patsos, Loyola Men's Basketball Coach:
"We have been fortunate to wear Under Armour jerseys and gear for the last several years, and they are becoming the leader in the industry. Student-athletes recognize the brand and see it as what they want to wear, and that is something that is very important to us. It is even better that Under Armour is based here in Baltimore, and we are very excited to create a lasting and special partnership."
Charley Toomey, Loyola Men's Lacrosse Coach:
"Our experience with Under Armour for the past several years has been terrific. They believe strongly in putting our student-athletes in gear that meets the highest performance standards, and we are proud to continue our work with them. Under Armour is a company that is a leader worldwide, but it means even more to me as a Maryland native that they are based right here in Baltimore."
Katherine Vettori, Loyola Women's Soccer Coach:
"This is an exciting opportunity for Loyola athletics and the women's soccer program to partner with Under Armour. As we begin this relationship, it has become obvious that the Under Armour brand has had an impact on Loyola student-athletes and the young women we see while recruiting."
