Gower Wins Consolation Final At Navy Gold Invitational
ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Kyle Gower won the consolation bracket Sunday at the Navy Gold Invitational, bringing to a close the Loyola University Maryland men's tennis team's fall schedule. He also teamed with Brian Hoffarth take seventh out of 28 in doubles action.
Gower lost to Princeton's Eduardo Paz in his opening round match of the Orange Flight on Friday, but he came back to win three-straight matches over the course of Saturday and Sunday.
He took on Ignacio Tintore in Sunday's final, defeating the Saint Peter's player, 6-3, 6-3, to win the bracket.
Gower also played in doubles action on Sunday, pairing with Hoffarth to knock off Andrew Ton and Peter Lorbach, 6-4, to capture seventh place.
Several other Greyhounds played additional singles matches on Sunday with Blest Jones and Jack Shortell picking up victories. Jones defeated Longwood's Rosen Nayendov, 6-4, 6-3, and Shortell was a 6-1, 6-2 winner against Mount St. Mary's Zachary Burau.
