Eberle, Clark Win Consolation Brackets; Martin Takes Second
EMMITSBURG, Md. - Nicole Eberle and Julie Clark each win their consolation bracket singles matches as the Loyola University Maryland women's tennis team completed play at the Mount St. Mary's Invitational on Sunday afternoon.
Eberle won her C Flight match with a dramatic 4-6, 7-6, 10-6 victory over Anessa Leyva of Siena. Clark was victorious in her D Flight consolation singles match, beating Liz Lowe of George Mason in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0.
In Flight A singles, freshman Kateri Martin of the Greyhounds lost in the championship match. Martin, who was part of the Flight A doubles championship team with Amanda Lanciano, fell to Sydney Green of George Mason, 6-2, 6-4.
In the consolation bracket of Flight A singles, Lanciano lost to Siena's Natalie Weaver, 6-3, 6-3. Lin Robertson lost to Brianna Gibbs of George Mason, 6-4, 6-2, in the consolation bracket of Flight B.
The Greyhounds return to action next weekend when they host the Loyola Invitational at the McClure Tennis Center.
