Men's Tennis Wraps Up Regular-Season With Win At Lafayette

EASTON, Pa. - Loyola University Maryland men's tennis team closed the regular-season on Sunday with a 6-1 Patriot League road victory at Lafayette College.

After taking the doubles point, the Greyhounds won five of their singles contests in straight-sets.

Jordan Kuchta and C.J. Cash teamed for a 6-0 sweep at No. 3 doubles against Chris Kim and Matthew DeBendetto before Loyola's No. 1 and 2 teams logged 6-4 victories.

Blest Jones and Brett Shriver were winners in the top doubles flight against Chris Matturi and Mason Keel, while Tyler Blessing and Greg Olesnycky best Gavin Studner and Andrew Reed.

Lafayette earned its point at No. 1 singles as Matturi defeated Kuchta, 6-0, 6-3, but the Greyhounds swept the rest of the order in straight-sets.

Blessing topped Studner, 6-4, 6-4, at No. 2, and Reid Burch was a 6-2, 6-2 winner over Reed in the third slot. Connor Pietrak shutout Kim, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 4, and Jones yielded only a single point in beating Keel, 6-1, 6-0, at No. 5. Cash then beat DeBendetto, 6-1, 6-2, at No. 6.

The Greyhounds open play in the Patriot League Championships on Friday, April 29, at Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. The conference office will make the seeds official on Monday, but Loyola appears to be in line to play the U.S. Military Academy at 2 p.m.
