BALTIMORE - Loyola University Maryland and its tennis alumni, fans, families and student-athletes celebrated the dedication of the McClure Tennis Center on a sunny and breezy Saturday afternoon, and the Greyhounds' women delivered a 5-2 victory over Bucknell University following the ceremony.

The men's team was edged by the Bison, 5-2.

Loyola's new playing center is named in honor of Head Coach Rick McClure who has coached at the school since 1979 and won more than 700 matches.

The eight-court lighted facility was built thanks to an anonymous $3.2-million gift. Located at the Ridley Athletic Complex, ground was broken in the summer of 2014, and work was completed recently to allow Loyola teams to being practicing and playing at the center.

Loyola's women team got off to a good start Saturday by winning the doubles point to take a quick lead in the match.

Amanda Lanciano and Ania Krawiec teamed to beat Lisa Jouravleva and Michele Urbinati, 8-5, at No. 1 singles. That result, combined with an 8-1 win by Emily Hughes and Haleigh Morgus at No. 3 doubles, secured the opening point for the Greyhounds.

The Greyhounds then won the two through four singles matches, and Krawiec picked up a 6-2, 6-3, victory over Melissa Parks in the No. 6 contest.

Lanciano won by default after leading Jouravela, 5-0, in the first set of the No. 2 match, and Hughes was a straight-sets winner, 6-3, 6-4, over Stephanie Pino at No. 3. Morgus added a 6-4, 7-6 (5) victory over Urbinati at No. 4.

In men's action, the Greyhounds were swept in doubles action, but they picked up two points in the singles matches.

Connor Pietrak beat Bryan Adams, 6-4, 6-3, at No. 3 singles, and Blest Jones went deep in a super-tiebreaker third set to get past Max Kane. Jones and Kane split the first two sets, 3-6, 6-2, and Jones won the third, 13-11.
