Tennis Teams Sweep La Salle

PHILADELPHIA - Loyola University Maryland’s women’s tennis team swept host La Salle College, and the men’s side won the doubles point and then earned victories in the final four signles matches to down the Explorers, 5-2.
The Greyhound men played three doubles matches that were decided by three points or less. Greg Olesnycky and Jordan Kuchta beat Dale Fetterman and DeSean Fennel, 8-5, in the No. 2 slot, while the No. 1 team of Harrison Kunkel and No. 3 pair of Connor Lisco and Connor Pietrak and Alex Castro earned 8-6 wins over their competiors.
Fennel, however, rebounded with a 6-3, 7-6 (2), win over Pietrak in the No. 1 singles match, and Chas Berenato edged Kunkel, 4-6, 7-6 (4), 6-3, at No. 2.
Loyola’s three through six singles players, however, came through with victories.
Lisco beat Joe LaBate, 6-3, 6-2, and Olesnycky scored a 6-1, 6-1 win over Fetterman in the three and four matches, respectively. Kuchta edged Rob Kasinow, 7-6 (3) in the first set before winning 6-0 in the second, and Castro rallied from a 4-6 loss in his opening set to down Brian Balico 6-3 (9).
On the women’s side, Loyola lost only two points while sweeping eight of the matches, 6-0, 6-0.
Megan Hahn, Haleigh Morgus, Katelyn Hissong, Ania Krawiec, Olivia Ott and Emily Hughes were singles winners, while Hahn and Ott, Tiffany Ash and Hughes, and Hissong and Krawiec teamed for doubles wins.
