BALTIMORE - The Loyola University Maryland men's tennis team made it interesting on Wednesday at Butler Courts, as the Greyhounds topped Morgan State University, 4-3.

It all came down to the final singles match, where senior captain and number one singles player for the team, Bobby Gorczakowski, served out the match at 5-4 in the third set to win the deciding set 6-4, clinching the victory for the Greyhounds.

Loyola took an early 1-0 lead as the first two doubles matches were taken. Gorczakowski and partner Connor Pietrak beat Morgan State's Dmitriy Borodkin and Ondre Cargill, 8-2, while freshmen Jordan Kuchta and Greg Olesnycky defeated Evan Ward and Jannick Tash, 8-4. Harrison Kunkel and Alex Castro did not finish their doubles match due to the doubles point being clinched by the Greyhounds.

In singles, the six matches were split, 3-3, giving the deciding factor to Loyola in a close competition with the Bears. Along with Gorczakowski's singles match victory, Kuchta and Olesnycky captured crucial wins over their opponents. Kuchta defeated Morgan State's Ondre Cargill, 6-0, 7-6 (2), and Olesnycky defeated Jannick Tash, 6-1, 6-4.

The victory for the team moves their duals' record to 5-0 for the season.

The Greyhounds compete next on March 16, as La Salle University travels to Baltimore for a duals' match at Butler Courts. Start time is set for 10 a.m.
