BALTIMORE - Loyola's Mangione Aquatic Center, home of the Greyhounds' swimming and diving teams, will be the setting for a swimming showdown between 14-time Olympic Gold Medalist Michael Phelps and four-time NBA Champion Shaquille O'Neal.

Baltimore native and Mangione Aquatic Center frequenter Phelps will take on the 7-foot-1, 325-pound Cleveland Caviliers center on the ABC reality show "SHAQ vs."

The program will air nationally on Tuesday, September 15, at 9 p.m. Eastern/8 p.m. Central on ABC affiliates nationwide.

True to the show's premise, Shaq challenges superstars from different sports to contests in their disciplines.

In the first episode, Shaq took on Pittsburgh Steelers' quarterback Ben Roethlisberger in a 7-v-7 passing contest. In following shows, the NBA star took on Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh in beach volleyball, the St. Louis Cardinals' Albert Pujols in a home run derby and Oscar de la Hoya to a five-round boxing match.

Shaq and Phelps will compete in different strokes in this show with Phelps competing against a different handicap each time.

The episode was taped August 20, 2009, in front of a standing-room only crowd, many Loyola students.
