Coan Named To U.S. Roster For 2017 World Para Swimming Championships

COLORADO SPRINGS - Loyola University Maryland senior McKenzie Coan has been named to the United States roster for the 2017 World Para Swimming Championships that will be held September 30-October 6 in Mexico City.

Coan won four medals, three gold, at the 2016 Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro and is one of the most decorated Paralympic swimmers in United States history.

She captured first in the 50-, 100- and 400-meter freestyles in Rio while earning silver in the 400-meter freestyle relay in the S7 category. Coan also took fifth in the 100-meter backstroke and sixth in the 50-meter butterfly.

In addition to her Paralympic experience in 2016, she was a member of the 2012 Paralympic team, and she competed at the 2015 Paralympic World Championships where she helped the United States to silver in the 400-meter freestyle relay.
