Greyhounds Announce Swimming & Diving Schedule
June 17, 2013
BALTIMORE - Loyola University Maryland head swimming and diving coach Brian Loeffler announced the Greyhounds' 2013-14 schedule on Monday.
The season will be the first for Loyola as a new member of the Patriot League. The slate will feature seven home swim meets, including four tournaments and three dual meets, while the divers will open the home portion of the schedule with a competition against American, Catholic and George Washington on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 11-12.
"I am very excited about our new conference affiliation," Loeffler said. "We have added several Patriot League schools to our meet schedule and look forward to developing rivalries with them."
Loyola will open the season on Saturday, Oct. 5 at new-conference-foe Navy, taking on the Midshipmen, in addition to George Mason. The swimmers will then head to American for its first meet against a Patriot League opponent, in addition to Catholic and George Washington, while the divers will host the trio of opponents at the Mangione Aquatics Center that weekend.
The Greyhounds will host Lafayette, Drexel and Seton Hall on Saturday, Oct. 26, before opening November with the two-day Thomas Murphy Invitational. Johns Hopkins, Marywood and St. Francis' women's squad will all come to Loyola on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 1-2, for the competition.
Back-to-back dual meets with Howard (Saturday, Nov. 9) and Patriot League-rival Colgate (Saturday, Nov. 16) will close out November, while the Greyhounds will host the annual H2ounds Invitational on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 6-7 to close out the calendar year. The event will pit the Greyhounds against Marist, Iona and Saint Peter's.
The new year will begin with two-straight dual meets at Lehigh (Saturday, Jan. 18) and versus LaSalle (Saturday, Jan. 25), before Loyola closes out the home portion of the schedule with its Senior Meet. The women will take on Mount St. Mary's and the men will face New Jersey Institute of Technology on Friday, Jan. 31.
A second trip to Annapolis on Saturday, Feb. 1 for the Navy Invitational will mark the final preparation for the Greyhounds' inaugural Patriot League Championships.
This year's conference meet will be held at Navy. Competition will begin on Wednesday, Feb. 19 and run through Saturday, Feb. 22.
