Swimming And Diving Honored As Scholar All-America Teams

BALTIMORE - The Loyola University Maryland men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams were named College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-America Teams for the Spring 2016 semester, as announced by the CSCAA Wednesday.

The awards are in recognition of teams that achieved a grade point average of 3.0 or higher during the Spring 2016 semester.

Loyola’s women’s squad combined for a GPA of 3.58 through the spring semester and was one of 172 women’s programs honored, including seven from the Patriot League. In addition, the women’s GPA ranked tied for 15th nationally and was tied with American for the highest GPA among all Patriot League schools.

With a cumulative GPA of 3.36, the Greyhounds’ men’s team ranked 15th among all NCAA Division I programs and was the highest GPA posted by a League school. Loyola was also one of 95 schools nationally to have its men’s programs recognized, while the Greyhounds were one of six Patriot League schools to earn the accolade.

Of the 267 NCAA Division I schools honored, Loyola is one of 93 to have both its men’s and women’s teams included.

To be selected as a CSCAA Scholar All-America Team, programs must have achieved a GPA of 3.00 or higher over the spring semester.
