Swimming & Diving Teams Earn CSCAA Academic Recognition
BALTIMORE - Loyola University Maryland's men's and women's swimming and diving teams earned the distinction of being named Scholar All-America Teams for the fall semester, the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) announced today.
Loyola's women posted a 3.59 semester grade-point average, while the men's team was not far behind with a 3.26 mark. The women's GPA is tops in the Patriot League and No 13 in NCAA Division I; the men are second in the League, .01 behind Lafayette, and No. 35 nationally.
A combined 30 student-athletes from the teams - 21 on the women's side and nine on the men's -- earned Dean's List honors during the fall. Five finished the marking period with perfect 4.0 GPAs: Jenna Egan, Maggie Garrahan, Anne Hayburn, Zachary Metzler, Madalyn Myers and Lindsey Staszewski.
The Greyhounds wrap up their home schedule this weekend when they host Mount St. Mary's University at 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 3.
