Trio of Greyhounds Win Events in First Day of H2ounds Invitational

BALTIMORE - Freshman Brennan Morris won the 500-yard freestyle and swam in the first position of a pair of second place relay teams to lead the Loyola swimming & diving teams in the first day of the H2ounds Invitational Friday evening at the Mangione Aquatic Center. After the first day of competition, the men's squad leads Iona, 59-41, and Marist, 68-36. The Greyhounds trail Delaware, 71-36. The women's squads trails Marist, 72-38, Delaware, 87-23 and are just behind Iona, 57-50.
Morris touched the wall in 4:31.67, taking home the gold in the 500-yard freestyle. Sophomore Patrick Mukri took third in the race, clocking in at 4:38.97.
Also victorious on the day was junior Jacob Drannan, who won the200-yard individual medley in 1:53.69.
Sophomore Courtney Trivino won the 200-yard IM in 2:09.47, the only woman to finish in the top three on the day.
The men's 400-yard medley relay team recorded second and third place finishes, as Morris got the "A" team to a fast start. Juniors Colin Chenet and Ozzy Torres, along with senior Brad Reeser, finished in 3:24.74. The team of juniors Sam McQuaid, Matt Fralinger and Tim Rowe, as well as senior Zach Oster finished third in 3:27.98.
Drannan and Morris swam the first and second legs on the second-place 800-yard freestyle relay as well. Mukri and Oster took the second half of the relay, finishing the relay in 6:59.10.
The second day of the H2ounds Invitational will begin at 10:00 am on Saturday, December 5 at the Mangione Aquatic Center. The afternoon session will start at 3:00 pm.
