WASHINGTON, D.C. - Senior Caitlin Cronin, sophomore Lizzie McKenna and freshman Aidan O’Hara were all victorious in the second day of Loyola University Maryland’s swim meet at American on Saturday. The Greyhounds competed against American, Catholic and George Washington in swimming events only.

Cronin won her second individual event of the meet, claiming top honors in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 53.39, while Mckenna captured a close 100-yard backstroke race in 100.09. Freshman Marie Clarkson was second in 1:00.48.

On the men’s side, O’Hara won his first collegiate event, touching first in the 200 back with a time of 1:53.66.

The trio also all notched a runner-up finish on the day. O’Hara was second in the 100 back (52.84), while Mckenna was second in the 200 back (2:10.41). In the 200 free, Cronin was second to George Washington’s Caroline Myers (1:54.73) by one-tenth of a second, touching in 1:54.83. Junior Erin Calderoni was third in 1:57.63.

In the 100 breast, freshman Tara Mulligan touched third in 1:09.18, while sophomore Cara Egan earned a third-place finish in the 200 breast. Egan completed the race in 2:30.81.


 

 

In the 1650 free, freshman Stephen Tonaszuck took third with a final time of 16:49.90.

Up next, the Greyhounds will have their annual alumni meet on Saturday, Oct. 19, followed by their first home meet of the season on Saturday, Oct. 26. Loyola will host Drexel, Lafayette and Seton Hall at the Mangione Pool at the Fitness & Aquatic Center.
