BALTIMORE, MD - Loyola's men's and women's swimming and diving teams combined to garner nine medals, including two golds, during Day One of the 2004 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC)Swimming and Diving Championships held Thursday at Loyola's Fitness and Aquatic Center (FAC).

Marko Turcinov notched the first gold of the day for the Greyhounds when he beat out second-place finisher, Matt Castillo from Marist, by nearly a second in the 200 IM en route to tying the event's MAAC-record time of 1:51.39.

Freshman diver Megan Sterback reeled in Loyola's second gold medal of the day with her convincing victory in one-meter diving as senior Erin Perry took sixth in that event.

Loyola's other medal performances are as follows: freshman Ryan Reeser grabbed second-place with a time of 4:36.48 in the 500-free while senior Chris Berger took sixth in that event with a time of 4:45.40, freshman Nori Skoda swam a time of 2:12.38 and senior Lisa Davey clocked a time of 2:13.23 to place third and fourth, respectively, in the 200 IM, and the men's and women's 200-medley relay teams took third (1:25.67) and fifth (1:41.34), respectively.

Team point totals are not available at this time due to a discrepancy in scoring with one of Day One's events that has yet to be resolved. However, unofficial race results are available at www.maacsports.com.

The MAAC Championships continue tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. at the FAC.
