Men's and omen's Swimming & Diving Fall To Towson

TOWSON, MD - Competing in his final home meet, senior Aaron Krause won two individual events and helped to win a relay as Towson University (9-2) won its third meet in a row, a 130-105 non-conference victory over Loyola College (7-5) in the Tigers' regular season finale at Burdick Pool on Saturday afternoon.

After helping the Tigers win the 400-medley relay with a time of 3:26.96, Krause won the 200-individual medley (1:52.18) and the 100-freestyle (:46.03).

Junior Marko Turcinov (St. Ignatius H.S./Richmond Heights, Ohio) led the Greyhounds by taking first place in the 200-butterfly with a time of 1:55.94. He also finished second in the 200-individual medley, finishing the event in 1:54.17. Senior Dan Casey (Bishop Eustace East H.S./Mount Laurel, N.J.) won both diving events in the meet. He scored 192.6 points in the one-meter event before taking the three-meter event with a score of 197.7 points.

On the women's side, junior Christine Flood won a pair of individual events to lead Towson University (7-4) to a 131-107 victory.

Flood finished first in the 200-freestyle (1:59.11) and the 200-backstroke (2:15.26) to help Towson finish its 12 straight winning regular season with a victory over its Charles Street rival.

Junior Jennifer Irby finished first in the 200-butterfly event with a time of 2:10.69. She also helped the Tigers win the 400-medley relay event with a time of 4:07.49, swimming the first leg of the Tigers' winning performance.

Freshman Nori Skoda (Bernards H.S./Bernardsville, N.J.) led the Greyhounds (9-5) in the meet by taking first place in the 200-individual medley (2:15.59) and by helping Loyola finish second in the 400-medley relay.

Senior Erin Perry (York Central H.S./York, Pa.) took first place for the Greyhounds in the one-meter diving event by scoring 188.325 points, while freshman Megan Sterback (Sayville H.S./Sayville, N.Y.) completed the diving sweep for Loyola by winning the three-meter diving event with a score of 215.625 points.

 

 

Loyola returns to action Saturday, February 7th at 1:00 p.m. when it hosts Iona for a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) meet.
