2010-11: Placed 12th in the 200 IM (1:57.07), fifth in the 400 IM (4:09.26) and seventh in the 200 Fly (1:55.75) at MAAC Championships...Took sixth in the 1000 Free (10:22.48) against Navy and George Mason.

Before Loyola: Earned three letters in swimming at Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas, Nev.... Finished third in the 200 individual medley and fourth in the 500 freestyle at the Nevada State Championships as a senior... Was second in the region in the 200 individual medley and third in the 500 freestyle that year... As a junior, was third in both the 200 and 500 freestyle at the regional level and fourth in the state in the 500 freestyle... Reached the regional finals in the 100 and 200 freestyle as a freshman... Helped the Gaels finish second in the state and the Sunset Region... Honor Roll student... Student Ambassador... Senior Class President.

Personal: Ryan James Shovlin... Son of Patricia and Jeffrey Shovlin... Born in Silver Spring, Md.... Has one older sister, Megan, a swimmer at Loyola... Taught Religious Education... Played water polo for six years for Team Vegas Henderson and was selected to the Mountain Zone Water Polo Team for three years.
