Women's Crew Picked Ninth In Patriot League Preseason Poll

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - The Loyola University Maryland women’s rowing team was picked to finish ninth in the Patriot League preseason poll, released by the league office today.
The 2013 Patriot League defending champions, the United States Naval Academy was picked to finish first with nine first-place votes and 121 points. Fellow Patriot League newcomer Boston University picked up eight first-place nods and 118 points, while Bucknell University grabbed the final first-place vote and 96 points. Georgetown University (89) and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (71) rounded out the preseason top five. College of the Holy Cross (62) picked up sixth place in the poll, followed by a tie for seventh between Colgate and Lehigh University with 35 points. Loyola grabbed 21 votes and rounded out the poll in ninth.
The Greyhounds opened the 2014 season in mid-March, competing at the Jesuit Invitational and Murphy Cup in Cherry Hill, N.J. This weekend, Loyola travels to Sandy Run Park to take part in the Occoquan Sprints in Fairfax, Va.
