Crew Concludes Fall Season At Bill Braxton Regatta

CAMDEN COUNTY, N.J. -

The Loyola University Maryland men's and women's crew teams concluded their fall seasons at the Bill Braxton Memorial Regatt on the Cooper River in Camden County, N.Y., on Sunday afternoon.

The Greyhounds had two freshmen boats competing at the regatta, competing on the Cooper River for the second-straight day. The men's freshmen eight placed fifth and showed major improvements from the crew's race on Saturday at the Frostbite Regatta.

The women's freshmen four won their race, defeating boats from Manhattan and Binghamton. It was the first race in the Loyola career of Tess DeMarco and secondfor Kathleen Varello and Bridget Bunton. The boat also included Andrea Almeida and Clara Coleman, who added valuable experience.

Loyola's rowers will be training primarily indoors in the coming months as they build fitness for the Spring season. Racing will resume in March of 2012.
